What is Sports Massage?

Sports Massage is a combination of a variety of massage styles and routines.  It more commonly focuses on specific regions of tightness or dysfunction in your body, taking into account any injuries or problematic areas that you may currently have.  

 

Sports Massage is specially designed for people who are involved in physical activity.  But you dont have to be a professional athlete to have a sports massage its also used by people who are active and workout often.  The focus isn't on relaxation but on preventing and treating the injury and enhancing athletic performance. 

 

When to have a Sports Massage?

For those athletes new to sports massage it is always a good idea to schedule your massage on your recovery days.  Deep tissue methods are commonly used with sports massage and therefore you should allow for your massage at least three days prior to your event to avoid any muscle soreness while competing.

A lighter form of Sports Massage is also great for pre-event warm ups and post-event warm downs or generally as a prevention or rehabilitation from an injury.
